kidPsych Assessments
Our assessments are comprehensive, informative, and usable. The report is a blueprint of interventions for growth and success, meant to be referred to often as your child develops. Our assessments are intervention oriented; we provide diagnoses as appropriate, but the final goal is also to create a specific and targeted plan for intervention.
Gifted Assessment
Gifted assessments are used to determine whether a child demonstrates superior intellectual functioning and can be used for applications to school programs for gifted learners (Westmount Charter School, CBE GATE, etc.) or to inform your child’s program at their current school. All admissions to gifted programs require intellectual assessment. Some programs also require academic assessment. We only use assessment tools which are accepted by these schools (WISC-V, WPPSI-IV, etc.). We’ll complete the assessment quickly, and provide a thorough report to attach to your application. Contact us to setup your appointment before the application deadline.
Psych-Ed Assessment
This is usually the ‘go-to’ assessment if your child is struggling. Psychoeducational assessments determine abilities and skills within intellectual, academic, and adaptive domains. Sometimes, these assessments result in one or more diagnoses (dyslexia, specific learning disorder, intellectual disability, etc.). The goal is to identify underlying causes of academic difficulties, determine strengths and deficits, and provide a plan for skill development and growth. Assessment reports can also open doors to school supports, community programs, and funding. Reach out today to set your child up for success!
Mental Health Assessment
These assessments determine a child’s social, emotional, and behavioural functioning to identify the presence of difficulties related to anxiety, depression, inattention/hyperactivity (ADHD), etc. Relying on a combination of developmental history, parent/teacher interviews, rating scales, observations, and direct testing, these assessments provide clarification regarding whether a child’s difficulties meet clinical thresholds, as well as provide a plan for intervention. Literacy Assessment
This assessment tells you exactly where your child’s literacy skills are currently. It can include assessment of phonological awareness, vocabulary, word recognition, decoding, comprehension, fluency, spelling, and written expression. The assessment can be customized to include math skills, too. Some parents also like to add oral language as well. These assessments are not diagnostic in nature (our psychoeducational assessment is used for diagnostic purposes). Instead, a literacy assessment provides detailed information on current strengths and weaknesses and provides an intervention plan to address deficits. Interested? Contact us.
